In busy clinical environments such as intensive care units, emergency departments and inpatient wards, mobile imaging plays a vital role in patient care. Clinicians need fast, reliable information at the point of care often for patients who are too unwell to be moved. HSL is proud to support this need by distributing Konica Minolta’s AeroDR TX across the UK and Ireland, introducing Dynamic Digital Radiography (DDR) to mobile X-ray.

Unlike traditional mobile X-ray systems that produce a single static image, DDR captures a rapid sequence of images over time, creating a dynamic view of anatomy in motion. This allows clinicians to visualise physiological movement such as lung expansion, diaphragmatic motion and changes in airflow directly at the bedside. The result is functional insight that goes beyond anatomy alone, delivered using a workflow that fits seamlessly into routine radiographic practice.

The AeroDR TX has been designed to make this advanced capability practical in everyday clinical settings. Compact, manoeuvrable and wireless, the system enables radiographers to perform both static and dynamic imaging using the same mobile unit, without transferring patients to an imaging department. This is particularly valuable for critically ill or immobile patients, where minimising movement can reduce risk, improve comfort and save valuable clinical time.

By combining DDR with mobile radiography, AeroDR TX supports more informed clinical decision-making while maintaining low radiation dose and efficient examination times. For imaging teams, the technology feels familiar to use, yet opens the door to new ways of assessing patient physiology, especially in acute and critical care pathways where speed and insight matter most.

To help NHS Trusts fully explore the potential of this technology, HSL is offering an in-Trust education programme titled DDR Insight Event: Mobile X-Ray Education Session. This CPD-accredited session is designed to give radiographers, clinicians and imaging leaders the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with AeroDR TX and understand how Dynamic Digital Radiography can be applied in real clinical scenarios.

Delivered on site at your Trust, the DDR Insight Event combines live system demonstrations with practical discussion around workflows, use cases and clinical benefits. Attendees can engage directly with the technology, ask questions, and build confidence in how DDR could support patient care within their own departments.

By bringing this education directly to Trusts across the UK and Ireland, HSL aims to make next-generation mobile imaging accessible, practical and clinically relevant. Whether your organisation is exploring DDR for the first time or looking to expand its understanding of advanced mobile X-ray capabilities, the DDR Masterclass offers a valuable opportunity to experience this innovation first-hand.

To book a Mobile X-Ray Education Session or to find out more about AeroDR TX, please contact HSL today.

In modern radiology and fluoroscopy departments, flexibility, efficiency, and reliability are becoming just as important as image quality. As hospitals and clinical environments look for ways to streamline diagnostics while maintaining exceptional standards of care, the Intelli-C multipurpose X-ray system has emerged as one of the most forward-thinking solutions on the market. Distributed throughout the UK and Ireland by HSL (Hospital Services Limited), Intelli-C brings together advanced imaging performance with intuitive workflow design, all supported by a partner that provides installation, training, and ongoing technical expertise from start to finish.

What sets Intelli-C apart is its ability to handle an impressive range of procedures through a single, versatile platform. Designed for both radiographic and fluoroscopic work, the system supports everything from routine examinations to GI studies and interventional procedures. Its 17 × 17-inch flat-panel detector delivers the clarity and detail required for confident diagnosis, while its low-dose imaging technology allows clinicians to work safely and responsibly, keeping patient exposure as low as reasonably achievable without compromising image quality.

A defining characteristic of Intelli-C is its thoughtful approach to workflow. The system’s fully motorised, tilt-C design allows clinicians to move seamlessly between different imaging positions, with automated C-arm movements and programmable geometry that reduce the time spent repositioning equipment. This makes the system not only efficient, but also comfortable for patients who may have limited mobility or who require longer, more complex studies. The table’s carbon-fibre construction, smooth elevation range and high weight capacity further enhance accessibility, making Intelli-C suitable for a wide spectrum of patients, from routine cases to bariatric care.

Beyond its ergonomic benefits, Intelli-C has quickly become known for its clinical versatility. It supports the full breadth of GI fluoroscopy including swallow studies, barium procedures and functional examinations, while also offering the precision and stability needed for interventional radiology and pain management injections. For departments striving to maximise room utilisation and reduce bottlenecks, a hybrid imaging system like Intelli-C can have a profound impact on throughput and scheduling flexibility.

However, what truly strengthens the value of Intelli-C for hospitals in the UK and Ireland is the comprehensive service that accompanies it. As the official distributor, HSL offers a complete, end-to-end approach that begins long before installation. Their team works closely with hospitals to plan spaces, determine the best configuration, and ensure that the system integrates seamlessly into existing workflows. Once installed, clinicians and radiographers benefit from hands-on applications training, ensuring they can make full use of the Intelli-C’s capabilities from day one. And because imaging technology is only as good as its long-term support, HSL remains involved long after go-live, providing maintenance, software updates and refresher training to keep departments running smoothly.

This partnership-based approach has already demonstrated its value across multiple NHS sites. In England, the first Intelli-C hybrid fluoroscopy suite represented a major step forward in the trust’s diagnostic capabilities, with clinicians praising its versatility, workflow efficiency and ease of use. The success of this initial project – Pioneering Innovation: First NRT Intelli-C Hybrid Fluoroscopy Suite Installed in NHS England – Hospital Services Limited UK – led directly to the rollout of a second Intelli-C suite within the same trust, NHS England Expands with Second NRT Intelli-C Hybrid Fluoroscopy Suite from HSL – Hospital Services Limited UK further reinforcing both the system’s performance and HSL’s reputation as a dependable long-term imaging technology partner.

As healthcare services continue to modernise and digital imaging becomes even more central to clinical decision-making, solutions like Intelli-C are helping departments elevate their standard of care without increasing complexity. Its combination of advanced imaging, intelligent workflow features and multi-disciplinary versatility positions it as one of the most capable hybrid X-ray systems available today.

With HSL supporting every step—from consultation and installation to training and ongoing service—Intelli-C is more than just a piece of equipment. It is a long-term investment in clinical efficiency, patient comfort and diagnostic precision for hospitals and imaging departments across the UK and Ireland.

The Dornier Thulio represents a major step forward in modern urology, combining exceptional performance with a level of versatility that allows clinicians to manage both stone disease and BPH treatment using a single, compact platform. As an Dornier MedTech partner , HSL is proud to bring the Thulio to hospitals and clinics across the UK and Ireland — complete with expert installation, comprehensive user training, and long-term technical and clinical support.

The Thulio is built around a powerful 100 W pulsed Thulium:YAG laser system, engineered to deliver high energy with remarkable stability and precision. Its RealPulse® technology ensures efficient energy delivery and excellent performance across a wide range of applications. From delicate stone dusting to high-energy fragmentation and anatomical prostate enucleation, the Thulio gives clinicians the control, flexibility, and power they need for efficient and predictable outcomes.

For kidney stone management, the Thulio excels in both dusting and fragmenting techniques. Its fine-tuned energy settings allow stones to be reduced to dust-like particles with speed and efficiency, while specialised fragmentation modes provide the power required for harder or larger calculi. Captive fragmentation helps to significantly reduce retropulsion, an advantage that improves procedural efficiency and surgeon control. Urologists benefit from being able to switch seamlessly between modes during a procedure, maintaining a smooth surgical workflow.

The Thulio is equally impressive in BPH surgery. With its dedicated enucleation mode, surgeons can perform precise and controlled prostate enucleation supported by excellent coagulation. The Thulium:YAG wavelength’s natural affinity for water-rich tissue results in cleaner cutting and enhanced haemostasis, helping to deliver clarity and confidence throughout the procedure.

While its clinical performance is a standout, the Thulio is also designed for practicality in the operating room. It delivers high power from a surprisingly compact footprint, operates quietly, and runs from a standard power socket — making integration into an existing theatre environment straightforward. A large, rotatable touchscreen and intuitive interface reduce setup time and simplify use, while flexible fibre options give clinicians greater freedom in adapting the device to different procedures.

By choosing the Dornier Thulio through HSL, healthcare providers gain far more than a high-performance laser. Our team manages the full installation process to ensure seamless integration with your clinical environment. We provide comprehensive in-person training for surgeons, nurses, and technical teams, ensuring everyone is confident in using the Thulio’s full range of modes and settings. Beyond installation, HSL delivers ongoing support, from routine servicing and calibration to clinical guidance and operational advice, giving your team the reassurance of a trusted, long-term partner.

The Dornier Thulio represents a new benchmark for multi-application laser technology in urology, combining stone lithotripsy, soft-tissue surgery, and prostate enucleation in one expertly engineered system. With HSL’s installation, training, and ongoing support, your team can deploy the Dornier Thulio with total confidence, knowing you are backed by specialists committed to clinical excellence and long-term reliability.

Mobile workstations are the heartbeat of modern healthcare. They help nurses and clinicians chart at the bedside, dispense medications, and keep workflows running smoothly. But too often, carts aren’t set up or maintained in a way that unlocks their full potential.

At HSL, we don’t just supply carts — we design, implement, train, and support your entire mobile workstation fleet to make sure it works exactly how you need it to.

Here are six practical ways to make sure your carts help your teams deliver the best possible care — with less hassle and downtime.

Customise for the Way You Work
Every department’s needs are different. Whether you’re using carts for medication, documentation, or vitals, customising each one to match that workflow can save valuable time. HSL works with you to design the right configuration from day one — from clearly labelled drawers to essential tools like barcode scanners and vital sign monitors, all placed within easy reach. We also help you keep things tidy with cord organisers and storage solutions that make sense for your team.

Maximise Battery Life
A dead cart can grind your day to a halt. HSL helps you choose the best battery options and power management solutions for your workflows — including hot-swappable batteries, rotation plans, and firmware updates to boost power efficiency. We design carts with smart power settings so they automatically conserve energy when not in use, extending battery life across your fleet.

Make Carts Part of the Workflow
Your carts should feel like a natural extension of your clinical tools. With HSL’s implementation support, you’ll have carts pre-loaded with the software your teams rely on — from EPR access to PACS — and fast login options like badge readers. We can integrate your carts with automated inventory systems to reduce unnecessary stockroom trips, and recommend cloud-based documentation or wireless printing to streamline daily tasks.

Prioritise Comfort and Safety
Ergonomics protect your staff and help them work comfortably shift after shift. HSL trains your teams to adjust height and tilt settings properly, whether sitting or standing, and we make sure your carts are suitable for both left- and right-handed users. We also support you in maintaining your fleet — replacing faulty casters and parts to keep your teams safe and comfortable.

Stay Ahead with Monitoring and Maintenance
A well-maintained fleet is a reliable fleet. HSL’s support doesn’t stop after installation — we help you track battery health, schedule regular maintenance, and monitor usage with fleet management software. We also advise on simple, standard cleaning protocols that keep your carts sanitary and your electronics safe.

Train and Empower Your Teams
No cart setup is complete without confident users. HSL provides full training during rollout and refresher sessions when needed. We can help you share best-practice tips on your intranet or right on the carts, and we’ll help you designate “superusers” in each department so staff always have someone to turn to.

Your carts are more than just equipment — they’re a key part of delivering safe, efficient care. With HSL’s complete design, implementation, training, and support, you get a mobile workstation fleet that truly works for you, every day.

In today’s healthcare landscape, clear, timely communication is more than a convenience — it’s a critical part of delivering safe, efficient care. From improving patient journeys to keeping staff informed, digital signage is reshaping how healthcare facilities communicate. At HSL, we’re helping organisations take control of that transformation with fully managed Now Signage digital solutions tailored to the sector’s unique demands.

Why Digital Signage Matters in Healthcare

Hospitals and clinics are often fast-moving environments where information needs to reach people quickly — whether it’s a change to an appointment schedule, a policy update, or a simple wayfinding prompt. Traditional communication methods like posters or printed notices can’t keep up with the speed or complexity of these demands. Digital signage offers a smarter, more agile way to communicate in real time — and in a way that’s engaging, accessible, and easy to manage.

Screens placed in reception areas, waiting rooms, corridors, and staff-only zones can serve multiple purposes at once. Patients can see estimated wait times and health education videos, visitors can find directions more easily, and staff can stay up to date with operational updates and emergency alerts. It’s a modern, effective way to make the healthcare experience more seamless and supportive for everyone involved.

Supporting Both New Installations and Existing Systems

Every healthcare provider is at a different stage in their digital journey. Some may already have a digital signage system in place but feel that it’s no longer delivering value — whether due to outdated infrastructure, clunky software, or lack of support. Others might be looking to deploy a solution for the first time and need expert guidance from planning through to implementation.

HSL is equipped to support both. If you’re looking to upgrade what you already have, we can help improve the infrastructure, migrate you to a more intuitive platform, and manage the transition smoothly. If you’re starting fresh, we offer a fully scoped deployment — including system design, installation, and training — so you can launch with confidence.

We often find that organisations are working with platforms they’re unhappy with, but feel unsure about what’s involved in making a change. That’s where our managed service makes all the difference.

A Fully Managed Solution, Built for Healthcare

One of the biggest challenges in digital signage is not just setting it up, but keeping it running well. At HSL, we provide a comprehensive, managed service that takes care of everything — from initial consultation and system deployment to ongoing monitoring, and support. That means your internal teams don’t have to worry about maintaining screens, or troubleshooting issues. We handle the technology, so you can focus on delivering care.

Enhancing the Experience for Patients, Visitors, and Staff

Digital signage plays a key role in improving the patient experience. By displaying real-time information like appointment times or check-in instructions, you can reduce uncertainty and anxiety, especially in busy clinics or waiting rooms. Health education content such as wellness tips, seasonal health campaigns, or preventive care guidance can also be shared in an engaging way while patients wait.

Navigating a large hospital or clinic can be overwhelming, especially for first-time visitors. Digital wayfinding tools, including interactive maps and directional signage, help reduce confusion and make navigation smoother — ultimately leading to fewer missed appointments and a more positive visitor experience.

Staff also benefit greatly. With digital signage in staff rooms, clinical areas, and shared spaces, critical updates can be shared instantly. This supports operational efficiency, especially in fast-moving environments where printed memos or emails may go unread or be delayed.

Digital signage is no longer a “nice to have” — it’s becoming a core part of how modern healthcare facilities communicate. Whether you’re ready to modernise your existing solution or begin a new deployment, HSL offers a flexible, fully supported approach that scales with your needs.

We understand the unique pressures healthcare teams face, and we’ve built our solutions to alleviate the communication burden. We are here to help you make communication clearer, faster, and more impactful across your organisation.

Explore how HSL’s digital signage can help you create a better-informed, better-connected healthcare environment.

In today’s healthcare environment, innovation isn’t just an advantage—it’s a necessity. One of the most exciting breakthroughs reshaping medical imaging is Dynamic Digital Radiography (DDR). Unlike traditional static X-rays, DDR brings anatomy to life by capturing motion in real-time, offering a deeper, functional view of the body that has the potential to revolutionise diagnostics and patient management.

What is Dynamic Digital Radiography (DDR)?

DDR is an advanced X-ray technology that captures a rapid sequence of digital images at a low radiation dose using a wireless system. Instead of a single still image, DDR produces a short video—known as a cine loop—allowing clinicians to observe anatomical structures in motion. This dynamic approach enhances diagnostic precision, offering vital insights into how organs and tissues behave, rather than just how they appear at a single moment.

Traditional imaging technologies like CT and MRI deliver incredible detail but are limited when it comes to evaluating movement. DDR fills this critical gap, providing a large 17” x 17” field of view, low radiation exposure, and wireless portability that enables imaging at the bedside. It’s an ideal solution for observing the lungs, diaphragm, joints, and cardiovascular structures in action—without requiring contrast media or extensive patient preparation.

Elevating Critical Care and Emergency Diagnostics

Here is the need for speed and accuracy greater than in intensive care units and A&E. In these settings, DDR proves invaluable. Its ability to rapidly capture real-time movement directly at the patient’s bedside minimizes the risks associated with patient transportation, particularly for those who are critically ill or vulnerable to infection.

The mobility of DDR systems like the AeroDR TX allows clinicians to perform exams anywhere within the hospital, delivering immediate visualisation of dynamic changes. In emergency situations, where traditional static imaging might fall short, DDR provides the crucial functional information needed to make swift, informed decisions about patient care. The streamlined workflow and wireless design mean that exams can be completed within minutes, ensuring vital diagnostic data is available without delays.

Beyond Imaging: Quantifying Motion with Advanced Software

The power of DDR extends beyond simply capturing motion. Using the DI-X1 workstation, clinicians can now quantify the movement of anatomical structures with precision. This dedicated software suite enables measurement of lung field areas, diaphragm excursion, and tracheal diameters, providing valuable data to monitor conditions such as COPD, cystic fibrosis, or diaphragmatic dysfunction.

DDR also offers a unique capability to evaluate lung perfusion without the need for IV contrast agents or radiopharmaceuticals. By analysing signal changes related to pulmonary circulation, DDR provides a safe, accessible alternative to more invasive techniques, aiding in the detection of conditions like Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH).

Additionally, enhanced visualization tools such as bone suppression and frequency enhancement dramatically improve the clarity of soft tissue structures, making it easier to detect lesions or adhesions that might otherwise be hidden by bone.

Dynamic Digital Radiography is more than just another imaging technology—it represents a profound shift in how we approach diagnostics. By offering fast, functional imaging with minimal radiation exposure and unparalleled flexibility, DDR puts the patient at the centre of care.

Clinicians are empowered with richer, more actionable information, while hospitals benefit from more efficient workflows and reduced overall costs. Whether it’s improving outcomes in critical care settings, refining respiratory assessments, or enhancing surgical follow-up, DDR is paving the way for a smarter, more responsive future in medical imaging.
