HSL’s dental solutions are having an impact both in the island of Ireland and in UK in the shape of the NewTom GO 2D Panoramic OPG System. The NewTom OPG comes from the experienced 3D pioneering R&D team at Cefla s.c, Italy, which produced the first dental CT ConeBeam unit that reshaped dental X-ray imaging.

Recently installed in the Mater Hospital, Belfast this unit once again demonstrates the breadth and quality of the relationships that HSL has with leading global manufacturers of medical equipment.

The NewTom GO system produces outstanding diagnostic quality thanks to its cutting-edge image acquisition technology and advanced software that affords 2D/3D capability and all this with minimum X-ray dose due to its SafeBeam Technology.

The installation occupies a small footprint and is invariably smaller than existing OPG equipment, something not lost on Brian Grant, Mater’s radiology services manager, “Space was at a premium for us but it was the outstanding quality of the images, the ergonomic design of the hardware and the great service/outstanding value for money from a local supplier that finalised our purchase decision.” He added, “Our hospital provides acute service to North Belfast and surrounding areas, our wide range of services includes Day procedures, in and out-patient services and the NewTom unit from HSL will ensure our dental service capability is now second to none”.

Michael Leonard, HSL territory manager said, “We were delighted to supply our first NewTom GO into such a prestigious site and I know that Brian’s department will enjoy the benefits this new technology will bring to their patients and staff alike. I am also delighted that my colleague Dawn Stewart at HSL GB has also been successful with an installation at Uckfield Community Hospital”. Clare Blount, senior radiographer of community radiology service at Sussex Community Foundation Trust, added, “The HSL engineers installed the NewTom GO quickly and without disruption.  HSL’s applications specialists spent the day with us, going through all aspects of the new kit and we also managed to book half a dozen patients, so we had real teeth to practise on!   We are very pleased with the new equipment and so are our service users”.
