Portiuncula Hospital go DR with new Shimadzu DaRt

Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe is an acute general and maternity Hospital and one of the hospitals in the Galway and Roscommon University Hospital Group. The Hospital aims to deliver a patient-centred, quality-driven focused service and provides a wide range of diagnostic and support services. Alliance partners, NUI Galway and the University of Limerick opened of a Joint Medical Academy at Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe in January 2013.

The catchment area includes patients residing in the East Galway, Roscommon, Midlands and Mid-Western areas

Portiuncula Hospital have just taken receipt for their new Shimadzu DaRt Evolution mobile DR system from HSL (Hospital Services Ltd). This new Direct Digital mobile system will enable the hospital to acquire high resolution low dose X-Ray images.

The hospital is also utilising the new Canon CXDI-701C AED detector within their existing X-Ray room to assist with patients that have been involved in RTC’s.

“The new Shimadzu mobile DaRt Evolution from HSL will make a huge difference within our department. We will have the ability to view images instantaneously on the mobile in ICU while also improving image quality and reducing dose. The ability to use the new Canon AED detector within our existing X-Ray rooms will be a huge help and will make a big difference when dealing with complex cases”.
